Hermosa, SD : Rapid City woman dead, 1-year-old girl injured after a rollover crash on Highway 40 east of Hermosa on Sunday, Nov 22, 2015
A 26-year-old Rapid City woman died and a 1-year-old girl was left in critical condition following a single-vehicle rollover accident on S.D. Highway 40 east of Hermosa on Sunday.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Nicolette McLaughlin, 26, of Rapid City, was killed when the 2006 Toyota Tacoma pickup she was driving westbound at 12:35 p.m. Sunday went out of control, left the roadway and rolled. McLaughlin was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle; McLaughlin died some time after the accident that happened about 22 miles east of Hermosa, the patrol said.
A 1-year-old girl, who was not in a child safety seat, was also thrown from the vehicle and was listed in critical condition on Monday; her condition was not updated late Monday. The girl's name was not released. Another passenger, 26-year-old Morgan Clarke, or Rapid City, suffered minor injuries, the patrol said.
The highway patrol continues to investigate the wreck.
