A 13-year-old girl was killed, an 8-year-old girl suffered major injuries and two other people were injured in a head-on crash in Palmdale, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.
The 13-year-old girl was identified as Lake Los Angeles resident Genenieve Aguilar, the CHP reported.
The crash was reported about 3:40 p.m. Friday on Pearblossom Highway, east of Old Nadeau Road.
Aguilar was a passenger in a 2004 BMW that was going eastbound on Pearblossom when the car drifted to the right and onto the paved shoulder.
The motorist, a 35-year-old woman, turned the car back to the left, crossing the number one lane and into the westbound lane directly into the path of a 2003 Infinity, driven by a 46-year-old man.
Paramedics rushed the two girls to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where Aguilar later died from her injuries. Both motorists were transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, where the 35-year-old motorist was being treated for major injuries and the 46-year-old motorist, the lone occupant in his vehicle, was being treated for moderate injuries.
