Logan, UT : 43-year-old Logan woman killed in a crash on Wednesday October 5 2016
A 43-year-old Logan woman was killed in a crash Wednesday night under similar circumstances to a recent crash that took the life of a mother and child in Providence.
North Park Police Chief Kim Hawkes said there are still more witness statements to gather, but at this time it appears that a 25-year-old man was driving southbound on Main Street and entered the intersection at 2200 North on a yellow light.
The speed limit there is 55 mph.
At the same time, the 18-year-old driver of a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic made a left turn to go westbound onto 2200 North.
Hawkes said the two vehicles were entangled in one wreckage and emergency responders had to extricate both drivers and the Logan woman, who was a passenger in the compact car. All three individuals were transported to local hospitals.
The 43-year-old woman, Yoland Lopez, was pronounced dead at the hospital, while her 18-year-old daughter Lizeth Colazo-Lopez remains hospitalized locally and is reportedly in stable condition. The driver of the truck, Dillon Hatch of Preston, was treated and released.
Norma Barriga and her three-month-old son Andy were killed Sept. 21 at 1700 South in Providence when she also made a left turn in front of a truck on a yellow light.
