Lemoore, CA : Woman died and 3-year-old child seriously injured in a crash at Kansas Avenue and 18th Avenue on Wednesday March 9, 2016
A woman was killed and a 3-year-old child was seriously injured Wednesday in a crash at Kansas Avenue and 18th Avenue.
California Highway Patrol spokesman John Tyler said the crash happened around 12:49 p.m. when a 2016 Scion iA driving southbound on 18th Avenue ran the stop sign at Kansas Avenue.
Tyler said the Scion went under the trailer of a 2000 Freightliner big rig that was driving westbound on Kansas Avenue. The car was dragged more than 300 feet before the big rig came to a stop.
The woman driving the Scion suffered fatal injuries. The child passenger in the Scion suffered serious injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Tyler said the child was in a car seat.
No other information about the victims was immediately available. Tyler said drugs or alcohol don't appear to have been a factor.
The 45-year-old Dos Palos man driving the big rig was not injured.
