OKLAHOMA CITY, OK : A minor car crash in southwest Oklahoma City on May, Tuesday, 23rd 2017
A minor car crash Monday afternoon in southwest Oklahoma City quickly turned violent and into a criminal act.
“(It) certainly was a scary situation for the victim,” said Travis Vernier, with the Oklahoma City Police Department. “(It) certainly was unexpected.”
The two cars involved in the crash were near Southwest 33rd Street and South Pennsylvania Avenue when one of the crossed the center line, hitting the other, police said. When the two drivers got out to share insurance information and to take pictures, one of them punched and robbed the other.
“The suspect did not want the other driver to photograph his insurance card,” Vernier said. “(He) did not want the vehicle he was driving to be photographed. The suspect then punched the victim in the face.”
The man also grabbed the victim’s cellphone before getting into his vehicle and speeding off.
The victim’s father said he’s doing OK but is shaken up. He now needs a new phone and some work on his car.
