Government Camp, OR : No one injured in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 26 at Government Camp on Thursday, September 25, 2014
A Welches man was cited for causing a non-injury crash involving two commercial trucks and a van that hampered traffic on U.S. 26 for nearly three hours Thursday.
Lt. Gregg Hastings, Oregon State Police spokesman, said a van driven by Devin Johnson, 26, of Welches was stopped on Government Camp Loop Road at 6:26 a.m., waiting to turn onto U.S. 26 west. A tractor-trailer rig also was stopped in the highway's eastbound lane, waiting to turn into the Government Camp Rest Area.
As the van pulled into the highway's westbound lane, it turned in front of a westbound commercial truck, Hastings said. The truck's driver swerved to the left, clipping the front and of the van, then slid broadside, crashing into the front end of the tractor-trailer rig.
Most of the highway was blocked by the crash, with traffic diverted into the open westbound lane until the wrecks were cleared.
State troopers cited Johnson for failing to yield the right of way.
