A Western Oregon University student has died from injuries sustained in a car crash on Interstate 5 in Salem Tuesday, Oregon State Police report.
Brandon Lin of Portland, 22, was one of two passengers in a 2006 Honda Accord that crashed into a tree on the highway's northbound lane near milepost 256 at approximately 5 p.m. He was in a back seat.
The driver, 18-year-old Laurie Son of Beaverton, reportedly ran into a tow truck and lost control of the car after attempting to change to the right-most lane from the middle lane of the interstate.
Lin died of injuries from the crash in surgery, police report.
The driver of the tow truck, Andrew Hillman, was not injured. Jeremy Danh, 22, was the front passenger and sustained minor injuries. Son also received minor injuries.
