Montebello, CA : Driver killed in 60 Freeway crash on Wednesday, March 30, 2016
Authorities on Thursday released the name of the driver who was killed when his car and a truck collided on the westbound 60 Freeway near Montebello.
Yun Hang Kim, 85, of Burbank, died at the scene at 4:33 p.m. Wednesday, according to Ed Winter, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner - Coroner.
The fatal crash took place on the westbound 60 Freeway, east of San Gabriel Boulevard at 4:11 p.m.
Kim was behind the wheel of a 2004 Toyota heading west on the freeway. The California Highway Patrol doesn’t know why Kim turned toward the left.
CHP officials said the Toyota traveled in a southerly direction and ended up in the path of a semi. The driver of the tractor trailer was unable to avoid a collision and hit the Toyota’s left side doors.
