OKALOOSA ISLAND, FL : Woman in critical condition after pedestrian crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and Pier Road on Tuesday, 4th February, 2020

A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon on Okaloosa Island at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and Pier Road.

Tyan Schor, 34, was driving west toward Pier Road in a 2012 Dodge Caravan.

A pedestrian was walking east, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The pedestrian crossed into the path of the vehicle, resulting in the crash, the release said.

The woman was transported to the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, according to Lieutenant W. Robert Cannon, public affairs officer for the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident, which happened about 3 p.m., closed the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 98 for about an hour.
