SHEMYA ISLAND, AK : College student paralyzed in crash makes it home to Oregon for holidays on Sunday, 23rd December 2018
A Seattle-bound Delta Air Lines flight had to make an emergency landing on a remote Alaskan island.
The Boeing 767-300ER aircraft was enroute to Seattle from Beijing with 194 passengers when it experienced a potential engine issue, according to reports from Alaska Public Media.
The plane landed on Shemya island, at the far western end of the Aleutian Islands chain, as a precaution. The island is home to Eareckson Air Station, a U.S. Air Force installation with a 10,000-foot runway and other facilities.
Another Delta plane flew to the island to pick up the stranded passengers and bring them the rest of the way to Seattle.
