Fort Wayne,IN : One killed, six injured in Ohio head-on crash on May, Thursday 3rd 2018
The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash which occurred on Interstate 75 near Beaverdam, in Allen County.
On May 2, 2018, at approximately 11:49 P.M., troopers responded to a report of a head-on collision. A 2006 Ford F-350 pickup truck, operated by John S. Robinson, age 64, of Phoenix, Arizona entered Interstate 75 from the north bound Beaverdam exit ramp and began traveling south bound in the north bound lanes of travel. A 2017 Ford Explorer, operated by Richard N. Watson, age 44, of Ypsilanti, Michigan was traveling north bound on Interstate 75 and was struck head-on by Mr. Robinson’s vehicle. Both vehicles came to final rest in the median.
Mr. Robinson was the only occupant of his vehicle and was transported to St. Rita’s Mercy Health by Bath Township EMS with non-life threatening injuries. There were five passengers in the Ford Explorer in addition to the driver, all who are from Ypsilanti, Michigan. The driver, Mr. Watson, was transported to St. Rita’s Mercy Health by Beaverdam EMS with non-life threatening injuries. The front seat passenger, Deena N. Frye, age 42, was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital by Bath Township EMS with serious injuries. The middle row left side passenger, Chloee E. Watson, age 18, was transported by Beaverdam EMS to St. Rita’s Mercy Health with non-life threatening injuries. The middle row right side passenger, Christopher M. Watson, age 15, was transported by Coroner Investigator Jamie Sizemore to St. Rita’s Mercy Health where he was pronounced dead. The back row left side passenger, Colby Watson, age 10, was transported by Beaverdam EMS to St. Rita’s Mercy Health with non-life threatening injuries. The back row right side passenger, Conner N. Watson, age 11, was transported by Beaverdam EMS to St. Rita’s Mercy Health with serious injuries.
For Mr. Robinson, alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash. Mr. Robinson was reportedly wearing a seat belt. Mr. Watson, the driver, and front seat passenger, Mrs. Frye were reportedly wearing seat belts. Chloee, Colby and Conner were reportedly not wearing seat belts. Christopher’s seat belt usage is unknown at this time.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to never drive impaired or distracted, and wear a properly adjusted seatbelt.
