Alcohol likely was a factor in the ATV crash that claimed a 40-year-old man's life Wednesday night, authorities said.

Jeremiah Busam, of Goshen, lost control of his ATV on Shiloh Road in Clermont County's Wayne Township and struck a mailbox, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The vehicle then struck a concrete culvert, overturned and struck two more mailboxes before stopping in a ditch, the release states.

Busam was ejected from the ATV and pronounced dead at the scene around 7:10 p.m. He was not wearing protective gear, highway patrol officials said.

The crash remains under investigation.
