SALEM, WI : Van driver killed and four students hurt after van hits school bus on May, Friday, 19th 2017
The driver of a van that hit a school bus in Salem on Friday morning was killed, and four Westosha Central High School students were injured.
The crash happened near Highway C and Highway 83 in Salem.
The Sheriff's Office told WISN 12 News a van hit the back of a bus that was stopped.
"There were little to no skid marks leading up to the back of the school bus," Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said.
Nineteen students were on the bus at the time, according to authorities. Three students were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The other students were transported to the Trevor Fire Department to be released to school officials.
The mother of one student on the bus, who did not wish to be identified, told WISN 12 News she has complained in the past about drivers passing stopped school buses there.
"As my kids are getting on that bus, they just go flying by. And today it had a horrible outcome," she said.
The bus driver was not injured.
The names of the people involved have not been released yet.
