Odessa, TX : Two people injured in a crash involving two cars in south of Odessa on Wednesday, May 4, 2016
Two people were taken to the hospital Wednesday following a crash involving two cars in a residential intersection south of Odessa.
Police said they did not know the extent of the injuries, but a woman wearing a neck brace was put on a gurney and loaded into a waiting ambulance. The crash was reported at 6:26 p.m. and occurred at the corner of Myrtle and Hudson avenues.
An Odessa Police Department officer gave minimal information about what happened, adding that a small bus at the scene wasn’t involved. But a witness, Michelle Davis, said she was heading north on Hudson Avenue in her vehicle behind the bus when the bus driver drove past a stop sign, forcing the driver of a Nissan Versa on westbound Myrtle Avenue to swerve around it.
The motion caused the Versa to plow into a Mitsubishi Galant that was waiting at a stop sign on southbound Hudson Avenue, Davis said. A bystander, Sean Butler, said his younger sister, Neikeidra, was in one of the heavily damaged vehicles and got sent to the hospital.
“I’m just thankful they’re alive,” Davis said of the victims. Davis believes the bus driver may not have seen the stop sign.
The OPD officer said citations are going to be issued but didn’t say to whom. The bus was adorned with the words reading Agape Ministries Dream Center.
