LAMONI, IA : A man has been killed and two children injured in the crash on Saturday, July 8, 2017

Authorities say a man has been killed and two children injured in the crash of a pickup truck in south-central Iowa.

The crash occurred around 2:45 p.m. Saturday, about 7 miles (12 kilometers) northeast of Lamoni. The Iowa State Patrol says 69-year-old James Young lost control of his pickup while going around a curve on a gravel road. The patrol says Young was ejected from the truck after it struck a telephone pole. The patrol says Young died on the way to a hospital. He lived in Lamoni.

The patrol says a 13-year-old and a 10-year-old with him were taken to a hospital in Leon.
