Several people were injured in a two-car crash in Monroe Township early Wednesday.
The crash occurred around 6 a.m. at S. Dixie Hwy. and E. Dunbar Rd. in Monroe Township.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Susan T. Lamanna, 51, of Monroe was driving a black Dodge Ram pickup truck north on S. Dixie Hwy. She was driving through the blinking yellow traffic light at the intersection when she was struck by a 2010 gray Ford Escape driving by Carol L. Fairchild, 66, of Monroe, the sheriff’s office said.
Ms. Fairchild was driving west on E. Dunbar Rd. when she entered the intersection under the blinking red traffic light.
After initial impact, Ms. Fairchild’s vehicle overturned trapping three people inside.
Emergency personnel extricated the occupants from the vehicle. Ms. Fairchild, Cheryl L. McDevitt, 48 of Monroe, and Sandra K. Arnold, 61 of Monroe, were taken by Monroe Community Ambulance to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. Ms. Fairchild and Ms. Arnold were listed in stable condition. Ms. McDevitt was treated and released.
Ms. Lamanna was treated at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The rear seat passenger in the Escape was the only occupant not wearing a seatbelt, officials said.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police, Monroe Post and Monroe Township Fire Department assisted at the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by Deputies Jon Cregar, Brian Francisco and Brian Quinn of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Traffic Services Division and Deputy Ian Glick of the Uniformed Services Division.
