D'Iberville, MS : 22-year-old Megan Dekleinhans dies in hit-and-run accident on Lamey Street north of Brodie Road in D’Iberville on Saturday, February 6, 2016

A Moss Point man is behind bars after police say he killed a woman during a hit and run accident in D’Iberville on Saturday.

D’Iberville Police Chief Wayne Payne says 24-year-old Markey Tanner was arrested on the charge of hit and run causing death.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove says the victim was 22-year-old Megan Dekleinhans of Gulfport. She was transferred to a Biloxi hospital where she later died from head wounds.

According to Payne, the accident happened on Lamey Street north of Brodie Road at 9:30 p.m.

Officials say witnesses on the scene were able to get a description of Tanner’s vehicle, a Mazda, before he sped off. After the vehicle’s description was released to other local agencies, Biloxi police were able to locate Tanner near Pass Road and Eisenhower Drive.
