San Augustine, TX : East Texas killed in head-on crash on State Highway 21 about three miles east of San Augustine on Tuesday, September 16, 2014

Troopers have identified Tuesday an East Texas woman who was killed in a two-vehicle crash the day before. According to DPS, at 9:35 a.m., Center troopers responded to a crash on State Highway 21 about three miles east of San Augustine. Investigators determined a car headed west drove into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into an International utility truck. At 9:42 a.m., the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Sheila Ponder. She was identified as Maratte Edgar Pearson, 48, of Hemphill. The driver of the truck was identified as Mike Miles McCauley, 42, of San Augustine. He and another passenger were taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
