CHESAPEAKE, VA : 1 injured, I-64 eastbound lanes closed after crash involving tractor-trailer near High Rise Bridge in Chesapeake on Tuesday 24th August 2021

All eastbound lanes on Interstate 64 near the High Rise Bridge were closed to traffic after a crash involving a tractor-trailer Tuesday in Chesapeake.

The collision happened around 5:50 p.m., state police said in a news release.

The crash involved three vehicles and a tractor-trailer, which spilled between 15 to 20 gallons of gas after the accident. One driver was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries, the release said.

Traffic was redirected at I-464 for over two hours, police said.
