A 90-year-old man died Saturday in an auto accident involving a head-on collision with another car, FHP Troopers say.
The crash occurred at the intersection of N. Cocoa Boulevard (U.S. 1) and Canaveral Groves Boulevard just after 3 p.m. Hugh Small, 90, was the passenger in a car heading westbound on Canaveral Groves that attempted to make a left turn at the intersection.
The car collided head-on with another car heading southbound on U.S. 1 that ran the red light. Small was ejected from the car in the impact, and later died at an area hospital.
The driver of the car carrying Small, Corrine Small, 79, was also seriously injured in the crash and transported to Holmes Regional Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the driver of the second car, Devin Holloway, 26, suffered minor injuries.
At this time, investigators do not believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.
