Montgomery, AL : Fiery crash victim identified as Gregory Quarles on Tuesday, January 31st 2017
Montgomery Police Department has identified the man whose life was claimed in a fiery crash on Interstate 85 Tuesday afternoon.
Gregory Quarles, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash after his vehicle and two 18-wheelers collided.
The wreckage of the crash caught fire and the intensity of the blaze initially obscured the presence of Quarles' vehicle within the crash. After the flames were extinguished, Quarles and his vehicle were discovered.
MPD accident investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash.
On social media, some paid homage to Quarles, also known as 'Coach Q' from his time as the defensive line coach at Carver High School. Before the crash, Quarles was texting players about their National Signing Day commitments.
