Gainesville, FL : A Starke man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Alachua County on Monday, December, 11th 2017

A Starke man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Alachua County on Monday, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Austin Yarbrough, 21, of Melrose, was driving a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta west on County Road 225. Near the intersection of Northeast 199th Lane, the vehicle went on the north shoulder of the road and hit a culvert.

The momentum caused the Jetta to be airborne and hit a tree. The Jetta overturned and landed on its roof.

Passenger Austin Tison, 25, died.

Yarbrough was taken to UF Shands Hospital with critical injuries.
