JERSEY SHORE, PA : Motorist hurt in wreck faces DUI charges on Thursday, March 16th 2017
Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania
Three months after suffering serious injuries in a three-vehicle crash, 53-year-old Susan A. McGraw, still needing a wheelchair to get around, was pushed up a ramp and into a district judge’s office to face charges of driving allegedly drunk at the time of the crash.
McGraw, of 189 Wilson Road, Hughesville, had a blood-alcohol content level of .20 when her northbound Mazda pickup, driving in the wrong lane, slammed head-on into a couple’s southbound Cadillic on Route 220, just south of Spook Hollow Road, in Piatt Township about 7:20 p.m. on Dec. 9, according to Tiadaghton Valley Regional police.
When Patrolman Tyler Bierly arrived on the scene, he asked McGraw what happened. She replied “I don’t know. You tell me.”
Following the crash, McGraw and the occupants of the Cadillac, William Child, 55, of Lock Haven, and his wife, a passenger, Kim, 56, were admitted in serious condition to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Also injured was a third driver, Harry Williams III, 39, of Jersey Shore, who was treated at the UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Willliams was traveling southbound when his truck was hit by the Cadillac following the initial collision, police said. Child, Williams and other witnesses all reported that McGraw was traveling in the wrong lane.
Accompanied by her husband, McGraw was arraigned Monday before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley on charges of aggravated assault by vehicle while driving drunk, driving under the influence of intoxicants, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and reckless driving. She was released on $50,000 bail.
