Conover, N.C : Conover fire chief rescues 2 after car crashes into building on Wednesday, January 18, 2017
The city manager in Conover says the fire chief was hospitalized after he rushed to save two people after a car crashed into a building, leading to a fire.
The Hickory Daily Record reports City Manager Donald Duncan Jr. said Chief J. Mark Hinson went to the source of smoke on Wednesday and found a car hit an office building.
Duncan said Hinson removed a person from the building and the daughter of the car’s driver from the vehicle. The car’s left rear tire had exploded, and the wheel hub generated sparks and set part of the room on fire.
Hinson was taken to the hospital for treatment of severe smoke inhalation. Duncan said the driver is also being treated, while the daughter was released to her family.
