Deland ,FL :3-year-old killed in rollover crash not properly restrained on Thursday Morning ,June 25th 2015
A 3-year-old boy died Thursday morning after a rollover crash in DeLand, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers.
Troopers said the boy and his mother were taken to Florida Hospital DeLand, where the child died.
According to troopers, Hilda Garcia, 28, of DeLand was northbound on U.S. 17 (Park Avenue) when she went off the road and partially into the center median.
Troopers said Garcia overcorrected, and the SUV overturned.
Troopers said the child, Alexander Cortes, was partially ejected from the car.
Garcia was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, troopers said. They said there was a child car seat in the SUV but the boy was not properly restrained.
Troopers said Garcia did not have a driver's license.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, troopers said.
