PORT SHELDON TWP, MI : Man seriously hurt in 1-vehicle crash in Port Sheldon Township on Friday, 14th September 2018

A Saugatuck man was seriously injured when he drove off Lakeshore Drive in Port Sheldon Township on Friday afternoon and crashed into a tree.Police said Troy Lange, 49, was driving his 2010 Toyota SUV north on Lakeshore and pulling a utility trailer when he lost control of the vehicle. The SUV left the roadway and struck a tree south of Inland Drive shortly after 5 p.m.

Sgt. Jay Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said Lange was pinned in his smashed SUV for a short time until he was extricated from it by Port Sheldon Township firefighters. Lange was then taken by AMR Ambulance to Holland Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition Friday evening.

Douglas said Lange was wearing a seat belt at the time and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
