Billings, MT : A man was killed in a crash on the interstate near Lockwood on Thursday, December, 28th 2017
A man was killed Thursday night in a crash on the interstate near Lockwood, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at about 5:10 p.m. at mile marker 452.
It appears that a man was driving a pickup from the Lockwood on-ramp onto I-90 west when he was hit by a semi, said MHP Trooper David Hankins.
It was possible the man in the pickup lost control of his vehicle and icy road conditions may have played a role in the crash, Hankins said.
The driver of the semi was uninjured and pulled over after the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, Hankins said. The crash occurred in the area of mile marker 452 behind Metra RV Center dealership.
Shortly before 8 p.m., Hankins said MHP remained at the scene of the crash waiting for tow trucks to clear the area. Both lanes of traffic were open, Hankins said.
Initially both lanes of I-90 were closed after the crash. The Montana Department of Transportation reported that the passing lane of I-90 near the crash was opened up to traffic as of 6 p.m.
