ROSCOE, IL : Beloit man remains in serious condition after I-90 crash in Winnebago County on Wednesday, 11th September 2019

The driver of a car that slid underneath a semitrailer on Interstate 90 in Winnebago County earlier this week remained in the hospital Wednesday afternoon with life-threatening injuries, according to Illinois State Police.

Andrew Dejaynes, 34, of Beloit, Wisconsin, struck a semitrailer around 5:15 p.m. Monday on westbound I-90 near Burr Oak Road, according to state police. Trooper Duane Chappell said the semi driver had stopped because of an unrelated crash that was blocking that lane.

Dejaynes failed to stop, he said.

“He went straight underneath the semi. He was not wearing a seat belt,” Chappell said. “The surface was wet.”

The driver of the semi, Lamark Powell, 47, of Rockford wasn’t injured, and there were no passengers in either vehicle.
