A pedestrian was struck and killed in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, resulting in a major road closure during the Monday morning commute. The road has reopened, but police are still searching for the driver involved in the hit-and-run crash.

At 5:07 a.m., the Seat Pleasant Police Department announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Central Avenue westbound was closed at the Capital Beltway while a deadly crash investigation was underway. The collision involved a pedestrian. Police said the crash happened around 3:20 a.m. The road reopened to traffic around 7 a.m.
