Cumberland County, NJ : One person killed in a crash involving a school bus in Fairfield Township on Thursday, February 4, 2016

One person was killed in a crash involving a school bus in southern New Jersey Thursday, police said.

The collision occurred at 7:42 a.m. on East Commerce Street in Fairfield Township, Cumberland County, State Police said in a news release.

The driver of the other vehicle, a black SUV, died at the scene, while several children on the bus sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital, authorities said. One adult passenger on the bus was also injured.

The bus was seen on its side following the crash.

"The bus is overturned kids were scared," one nearby resident wrote on Twitter. "We are all scared and on edge."

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
