Topeka, KS : One injured after car-semi collision on I-70 in East Topeka early Wednesday, January 4, 2017

At least one person was hospitalized after a car-semi crash early Wednesday on Interstate 70 in East Topeka.

The crash was reported at 6:13 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-70, just west of the toll plaza leading to the Kansas Turnpike.

Authorities said the collision involved a Toyota Camry and a semi-trailer that were eastbound on I-70.

The Camry, which sustained front-end damage, came to rest on the left shoulder of the eastbound lanes, near the concrete Jersey barrier.

The semi came to a stop on the right shoulder.

At least one occupant of the Camry was reported to have been injured and was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital by American Medical Response ambulance.

The semi driver was reported uninjured.

Topeka police and fire crews also responded to the scene.

Traffic on eastbound I-70 in the area was restricted to a single lane for about an hour as crews cleared the scene.
