Conway,SC : Conway crash that killed one, injured another on August, Tuesday 1st 2017
One person was killed after being ejected from a car in a crash in Conway Tuesday morning at 10:20. Another person was injured.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick said the victim is Christopher Wade Bryant, 23, of Conway. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Dunn Shortcut Road.
Crews with Horry County Fire Rescue and the Conway Fire Department were on scene as of 10:40 a.m., according to an HCFR tweet.
According to witnesses, the car lost control and hit an embankment on Dunn Short Cut Road. They said it rolled through a fence and two yards.
“Sounded like a freight train going through," said witness Ronald Moss.
HCFR Spokesman Mark Nugent said the person who was trapped was extricated and taken by helicopter to Grand Strand Medical Center.
"We were just trying to get her out of the car. I was just hoping the car didn’t ignite," said Moss.
The car was heading east on Dunn Short Cut Road when it ran off the road and overturned several times. According to South Carolina Highway Patrol officials, Bryant was not wearing his seat belt.
The SCHP is investigating the crash.
