Port Chester, N.Y : Deadly accident involving military vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Rye Thursday on August 7, 2014
A military vehicle overturned on Interstate 95 in Rye Thursday, killing one person.
New York State Police are investigating the two-car fatal accident, which happened around 10 a.m. on I-95 south near exit 21. A military Humvee and another vehicle, both southbound, collided and one of the vehicles rolled over. Two people were ejected.
The Army truck, assigned to the Connecticut Army National Guard, was en route to Fort Dix in New Jersey to deliver material.
The passenger of the rolled vehicle was killed; the driver was brought to a hospital with serious injuries. The second vehicle's driver also was taken to the hospital with an unknown injury.
One southbound lane was open on I-95. Traffic was backed up to Stamford, Conn.
The ramp to Interstate 287 was closed during the investigation.
