53-year-old bus driver killed in crash was impaled in Salt Lake City Utah
Authorities have identified a Utah man as the tour bus driver who was impaled by a drilling device when his bus crashed into a utility truck on a Utah interstate.The Utah Highway Patrol says the man killed Monday was 53-year-old Pita Asiata of Bountiful. He died after a large auger being carried by the utility truck went through the bus's windshield.Troopers say three of the 50 bus passengers were critically injured in the wreck. Other passengers had minor injuries.The patrol says the crash took place around 6 p.m. on Interstate 80, about 34 miles from the Nevada state line.Both the bus and truck were traveling east when the truck slowed to turn into a median turnaround. The bus then collided with the truck, and the driver died at the scene.
