Sarasota, FL : Mower driver injured in collision with Jeep on Thursday November, 9th 2017

A Port Charlotte man driving a riding lawnmower was seriously injured Thursday morning in a collision on State Road 776.

Agustin Cruz, 77, was riding the mower southeast on Hollis Avenue, and when he came to the intersection with the highway, turned right, to head southwest on 776. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Cruz failed to see an approaching Jeep Latitude driven by Arthur Maggi, 58, of Bradenton.

Maggi steered to the left, but the right front of his Jeep hit the left side of the mower, throwing Cruz onto the roadway. Cruz was airlifted to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
