FREEPORT, FL : Semi truck flees scene of Walton County accident on Monday, 26th March 2018
A semi truck fled the scene of a crash after causing an accident in a construction area.
According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, at approximately 9:45 a.m. Monday the tractor-trailer was traveling north in the outside lane of U.S. Highway 331 near Rock Hill Road. A Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 23-year-old Kasey Lugo of Panama City was attempting to merge into the left lane due to lane closures caused by construction.
The car attempted to change lanes but was unable to do so, causing the right side of the Tahoe to swipe the left side of the semi’s trailer. The Tahoe then struck an orange construction barrel as it continued to travel into the left turn lane before coming to a final rest facing north in the left turn lane of U.S. 331.
The semi didn’t stop or remain at the scene, and was described as a blue truck hauling a flatbed trailer. No company name or identifying mark was obtained.
