White House, TN : A motorcyclist is dead after being hit head-on by a car at Highway 76 On Thursday, June 30th, 2016

A motorcyclist is dead after being hit head-on by a car on Highway 76 in White House.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist did nothing wrong and could do nothing to avoid hitting the car when it crossed the double line.

"It's in a slight curve; it's not a blind curve, and the car simply came across the center the line and struck him head-on. He couldn't have tried to bail off the bike; there just really wasn't an opportunity," said Lt. Bill Miller with

THP.

Witnesses said the motorcyclist struggled to breathe and died before help could arrive. His motorcycle was pinned under the car that hit him.

"Soon as I hit my brakes, I noticed something that something flew off the side of the road ... I see a guy lying in the street. The guy is climbing out of the car, he's climbing out of the window, and he's asking me to use my

phone, and I was like, what about this guy in the street? I start walking toward the guy in the street, and I see a motorcycle helmet," said eyewitness John Cole. "He is basically crying and saying that he is sorry and stuff like

that, but it's bad, it's bad to see."

The man who hit the biker has given a blood sample and was given a field sobriety test. He is also being questioned whether he was texting and driving or talking on the phone when he crossed the double yellow line.
