Tualatin, OR : Man died in a hit-and-run collision on I-5 south of Woodburn on Tuesday, November 8, 2016

Police tracked down a car involved in a deadly hit-and-run collision that killed a man on Interstate 5, but the owner of the car has not been found.

Emergency crews responded to Milepost 269, south of Woodburn, on reports of a man down in the median area.

Investigators said Delbert E. Cooper, 57, of Kent, Washington, was hit by a car heading north on I-5. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives determined the suspect vehicle was an early 2000s silver Ford Focus after finding fragments of a headlight lens at the scene.

That information was released to the public Tuesday night. Oregon State Police received a tip at 11 p.m. Tuesday from someone who believed they knew the location of the car.

Police responded to a location in Tualatin and found a 2002 Ford Focus with front driver's side damage consistent with evidence at the crash scene.

Police are now trying to contact the registered owner of the car, 45-year-old Juan Enrique Guzman Rodriguez of Salem.
