Three police officers and a motorist were injured in a two-car accident Monday evening in Rock County.

One on-duty City of Beloit police officer and three on-duty Town of Beloit officers were returning to Beloit from a court proceeding in another jurisdiction in an unmarked vehicle shortly before 7 p.m., according to the Rock County Sheriff's Department.

The unmarked squad car was making a left turn with a green turn arrow from state Highway 11 to county Highway G in the Town of Rock when a vehicle driven by a 41-year-old Janesville man failed to stop at a red light. In the collision, three police officers and the Janesville man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were listed as stable.

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident. The Janesville man was issued a citation for failing to stop for the red light.

Passengers in the rear of the police vehicle had to be extricated. The eastbound lanes of state Highway 11 were shut down for about an hour.
