Charlotte ,NC :Two injured after crash along I-277 ramp and driver charged with DWI on Wednesday ,August 12th 2015

Police are investigating an overnight crash that left two people in critical condition near uptown.
Officers responded to the wreck on the ramp from Interstate 277 to Kenilworth Avenue.
The driver and passenger were rushed to Carolinas Medical Center with critical injuries. Officials said the car ran off the ramp and struck a beam around 2:45 a.m.
Officials said Sisavanh Vongphouthone, 32, was driving on John Belk Freeway when he ran off the road and into a grass median. He failed to stop in time and his vehicle, a 2005 Honda, hit the frame of the exit sign.
Vongphouthone and passenger Brandon Le were taken to the hospital. Vongphouthone was charged with DWI, officials said.
