STILLWATER, OK : Texas woman killed on Interstate 35 near State Highway 51 about 15 miles west of Stillwater on Monday, 23rd July 2018
A Texas woman died Monday evening in a Payne County crash, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Pennie Shoebridge, 54, of San Antonio, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene about 7 p.m. on Interstate 35 near State Highway 51 about 15 miles west of Stillwater.
The patrol reports Shoebridge was traveling south on I-35 when the van she drove hit a cable barrier and rolled. She did not wear a seat belt and was partially ejected.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, the patrol reported. A trooper detected an odor of alcohol, the patrol reported.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation reported Monday the crash is being investigated in connection with another ongoing case, but a spokeswoman for the bureau did not give further details.
In 2015, Shoebridge pleaded guilty in a federal court in Arizona to a misdemeanor reckless driving offense.
She was arrested May 15, 2014, for erratic driving at the Grand Canyon. She told park rangers she was "drunker than a clown," records show. A judge sentenced her to a year of probation.
Her defense attorney at the time reported Shoebridge was a "disabled lifetime military veteran." Records show she was in the United States Air Force.
