Pine Island, MN : Triton High School student, 18, killed in a one-car crash near Pine Island on Friday afternoon, December 18, 2015

The teenager killed in a one-car crash late Friday afternoon near Pine Island has been identified as Logan Maas, 18, of Dodge Center.

The Minnesota State Patrol said he was a passenger in a car driven by a 17-year-old West Concord girl. Two other passengers were in the car as well.

The patrol said the car was southbound on 275th Avenue north of Dodge County Road 5 when it went off the road and rolled in a ditch. The three passengers weren't wearing seat belts and were thrown from the car. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, and the two other passengers — girls ages 15 and 17 — were taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys Campus in Rochester. Their names had not been released as of this afternoon.

The crash was reported at 4:17 p.m. Friday.

The Facebook page of the First Congregational Church in Dodge Center says that Maas was a senior at Triton High School.

"Our church has received the very sad news of the death of a Triton student late Friday afternoon," the church's Facebook page states. "A vehicle crash involving 4 Triton students claimed the life of Logan Maas. At the request of the Triton School District, pastors from our ministerial alliance will meet on Monday morning before school with the school administration. They will then remain on campus to be available for students should they choose to visit with them. Please be in prayer for our student body, the faculty and the support staff as well as Logan's family during this extremely difficult time."

The Minnesota State Fire Department Association website says, "Logan was a senior at Triton High School, and proud member of Dodge Center Fire Department where he served alongside his father, Matt Maas.

"Today and in the days ahead — our thoughts / prayers will go out to the Maas family and Dodge Center Fire Dept."

Logan's father is the assistant fire chief.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office, Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, West Concord Ambulance, Zumbrota Ambulance, Pine Island Fire Department and Mayo One Air Ambulance assisted the patrol at the scene.
