White County, IN : Monticello man dies from White County crash on Tuesday, 27th October, 2020

A Monticello man died Tuesday from a vehicle accident at the intersection of Indiana 39 and County Road 175 North.

Charles R. Cottrell Jr., 40, was pronounced dead at IU White Memorial Hospital in Monticello, according to a press release from The White County Sheriff Office.

Cottrell was driving a 2006 Lincoln west on 175 North about 8:30 p.m.

Witnesses told crash investigators that he failed to stop at the stop sign at Indiana 399.

A northbound 2013 Ford Edge driven by Megan Clark, 34, was not able to avoid Cottrell’s car.

Both Clark and Cottrell were taken to IU White Memorial.

Clark has been released from the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

The White County Sheriff Office, Indiana State Police and White County Coroner investigated the accident.

The Monticello Fire Department and Monticello Police Department assisted at the accident scene.
