DECATUR, IL : 29-year-old Decatur man was killed on Tuesday, August 8, 2017

Police said a 29-year-old Decatur man was killed Tuesday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with an SUV, police said.

According to a media release from Sgt. Tony Tertocha, the accident happened about 3:09 p.m. at the intersection of East Prairie and North 19th streets. A preliminary investigation determined that the man was traveling west on Prairie, while the SUV was traveling south on 19th, Tertocha said.

The two vehicles collided at the intersection, Tertocha said, and the man was found unresponsive at the scene. Tertocha said he was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from injuries.

No injuries were reported for the two occupants of the SUV, Tertocha said. Traffic was diverted from the intersection at all directions for approximately four hours, he said.

The Fatal Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating the crash.
