Lebanon, OR : Two people killed, 7-year-old injured in Linn County car crash on Highway 34 west of Lebanon on Thursday, January 1, 2015

Two adults died and a child was seriously injured in a head-on crash about 7 p.m. Thursday on Highway 34 just west of Lebanon near Goltra Road.

The investigation was continuing. Identities and hometowns of those involved and the condition of the injured person had not been released.

The Lebanon Fire District said the wreck involved two mid-sized cars about a quarter-mile west of the highway's intersection with Goltra.

According to the Oregon State Police, an aqua-colored, 1994 Chevrolet Camaro, driver's name withheld, was traveling west on Highway 34 at milepost 12 when it crossed the centerline and collided with an eastbound, blue, 2000 Chevrolet Impala.

The driver of the Camaro was pronounced dead at the scene. A 7-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the car, was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis with serious injuries.

He was later taken to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland via air ambulance for further treatment. The driver of the Impala was also transported to Good Samaritan, where the person was pronounced dead.

While the investigation is not complete, speed is being considered as a potential factor in the crash, according to OSP. Names of the involved persons will be released following next-of-kin notification.

OSP handled the crash with assistance from Lebanon paramedics, firefighters from Albany and Tangent, deputies from the Linn County Sheriff's Office and personnel with the Oregon Department of Transportation.
