SONORA, CA : 17-year-old killed in Sonora hit-and-run crash on Sunday, 28th February 2021

The California Highway Patrol is asking the public for help after a 17-year-old girl died after a suspected hit-and-run crash in Sonora.

Officers received a call Feb. 28 around 5:30 p.m. from someone saying they spotted the teen in a ditch with major injuries, CHP said Wednesday in a release. Officers who responded found her along Highway 49 near O'Hara Drive.

The girl was treated by medical personnel but she died of her injuries, CHP said. Officers suspect the driver who hit her fled afterward.

There is no suspect information and no leads in the investigation, CHP said. The teen is not being identified at this time.
