Auburn, CA : A motorcycle rider was injured on Highway 49 in North Auburn on Thursday, 29th March 2018

A motorcycle rider was injured on Highway 49 in North Auburn in a collision today with an SUV north of Lone Star Road.

Witnesses reported to the California Highway Patrol that the SUV had veered from the northbound fast-lane into the middle, two-way left turn lane, causing the motorcycle rider traveling south on Highway 49 in the fast lane to take evasive action.

The SUV, however, sideswiped the motorcycle, resulting in a crash that left the bike and rider on the ground in the highway, the Highway Patrol said. Passing motorists stopped to help after the collision, which was reported at 7:39 a.m.

The motorcycle rider was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.

The crash investigation was continuing but drugs and alcohol were not being considered a factor, she said.
