LEE COUNTY, FL : Michigan scooter driver killed in Lee County crash on Saturday, 25th December 2021

A Michigan man died Christmas evening after a scooter crash on Estero Boulevard at Island Pines Way.

A 22-year-old Macomb, Michigan man was driving a scooter east on Estero Boulevard when a sedan was driving in the opposite direction.

The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, drove into oncoming lanes to drive around stopped traffic and crashed into the front of the sedan, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 22-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 20-year-old woman, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
