Memphis, TN : Mid-South woman survives living room car crash on Tuesday, July 8, 2014

A Mid-South driver lost control of her car, and it went barreling through an apartment living room.

"A cannon. It was just the loudest sound I've ever heard," said victim Lisa Carr.

That sound was a vehicle barreling into Carr's apartment. She had just gotten home five minutes earlier, but in an instant, Carr was pinned by the automobile, counter, and dishwasher up against her refrigerator.

"I saw counter bar stools, a dishwasher come at me just like an avalanche so fast," said Carr. "I could not get out. I thought I was gone."

The vehicle was completely inside Carr's apartment, and a friend helped her escape.

"The tires were still spinning, water was gushing everywhere from the ceiling. She'd [the driver] knocked the pipes loose. Everything was chaos."

Carr says while she has severe bruising on her midsection and cuts on her face and body, the woman driving the car did not appear to be seriously hurt.

A bystander saw the airborne vehicle head straight for the apartment. At this time, it is unclear how the driver lost control.

"It went through three windows, my sunroom, living room and stopped at my kitchen," noted Carr.

Carr said that her apartment is unlivable and most of her possessions destroyed, but she added, "It could have been much worse."
