A Clinton man who was severely injured in a motorcycle crash in Parke County on Sunday has died, authorities confirmed.
William Werremeyer II, 65, was taken to Union Hospital in Clinton before being airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he later died, according to the Parke County Sheriff's Department. The Marion County Coroner's Office said no autopsy was conducted on Werremeyer; the body was taken directly to a funeral home.
According to the sheriff's department, Werremeyer's 2016 Harley Davidson struck a guardrail along U.S. 41 south of County Road 600 West after losing control of the motorcycle. It left the west side of the road, overturned and threw Werremeyer, who deputies said was not wearing a helmet. Police said the accident happened around 4:55 p.m. He was riding solo on the motorcycle, but a friend riding another motorcycle witnessed the accident, police said.
